White Noise. realized getting Techmoons elsewhere is not gonna be an easy task, specially since now they have been kicked out from Branch, they have lost the defender’s advantage. On Wednesday they tried to retake the HB7R-F solar system from the SpaceMonkey Alliance. Thing’s didn’t go as smooth as they thought. Here is the battle-report GENTLEMEN’S AGREEMENT director and FC Lake elaborated on the reddit network:
Edit: I was the FC you heard at the beginning and the end. I handed off to Trad for the target calling so I could focus on titan bridges and stuff.
I was tired and needed to get to sleep so I just started typing until I’d said lots of stuff and the result is this post. Apologies if it’s a little chaotic and a lot long.
My notes have the HB7 TCU online time as 0617. The first kill was at 0608. Watching that TCU timer tick down minute by minute as we killed one abaddon after another made for one of the best fleet fights I’ve ever been in.This was a close thing. The KB shows a one-sided slaughter. WN went for it, and lost. Had they won the KB would be almost identical save for a single additional TCU mail. Killing the TCU would mean another 8 hours of vulnerability in a timezone we’d prefer it wasn’t vulnerable.
We were doing the sov transfer for Branch.
Before: Influence, Dotlan
After: Influence, DotlanCalling it a “Sov Transfer” makes it sound like there’s some special game mechanic to it. There isn’t. You drop sov with one alliance and attempt to claim it with another. For 8 hours there is no sov and you have a TCU onlining. You can do some tricks with sov structures, but if you can’t protect that TCU it’s all for naught.

Goons dropped claim in a lot of branch sysytems. including hb7. we gonna try to stop them onlining tcu0400? Really?! Oh please let this be true.
I was running one fleet or another on and off from 2000 onwards. Much of the day is just shooting structures we already own as part of the sov transfer. The 0300 fleet does more of the same but by that point we’re just waiting and watching. Are they really going to show up for this? What kind of numbers does WN get at 0400 anyway?
At 0400 they get a whole lot of fuck all. 0500? Still fuck all.By now we’ve finished shooting yet another station from 100% shield to 0% structure and send most of the 0300 formup home. WN have been collecting a few more ships, it’s not really a threat but if we’re not quick they can take a TCU down before we can respond. So about 70 of us chill and wait either for the WN to give up, the TCUs to online, or WN to make a play.
At 0545 WN’s formup system spikes, and the scouts are saying they’re all landing on the bridge titan. Fuck yes they’re actually going to do this. I’ve been resolutely “promising nothing” to the fleet all night, but now we actually get to do one of my favorite things:
directorbot: WN is actually forming for a fight!, goign to hit something, need dudes, 1ix on titan, get into Mainfleet, read MOTD. Join Mumble Op3. This could be the fight we are waiting for!
*** This was a broadcast from rydis to all-all, replies are not monitored ***
From this point on numbers on the CFC side of things just keep climbing. We’re at 70 when that’s sent, and at about 100 it kicks off.
“HB7 Cyno” reported, “6NJ despike”. Whatever is coming, we’re fighting for that TCU. “Light it” “Bridge Bridge”. Loading… Traffic Control.
Abaddons + Guardians. Then the triage carriers and dreads. The only thing is just to burn their DPS faster than they can burn the TCU. To a rough approximation a TCU has the EHP of 200 BS. With only their subcaps this would obviously be in our favor. We lose some efficiency needing to volley through the guardian+triage reps, but still in hand. The dreads though? Worry about those when the subcaps are dead.
Then I hear on command comms: The Question. However you phrase it, when the SuperCap FC asks “How’s the fight going?” you know what he means. They’re shooting the TCU but we can’t TCU-tank forever. I equivocate a bit, look for pods but don’t dare show-all-brackets or switch tabs to look for wrecks. I honestly can’t recall what I said, but…
That new jump effect sure is pretty. The first two dreads both died at 0616 and the rest of the hostile caps didn’t last much longer. Laz somehow managed to wade through all of the bubbles to get his cyno close to the TCU, which is now well into armor, so the cap fleet buys us a bit more time with their reps.
Nothing left but to listen to Tradik’s cadence with the target calling and watch the TCU’s timer. Tick. Dead Abaddon. Tock. Dead Abaddon. Tick. Dead Abaddon. Tock. Dead Abaddon. Invulnerable. From having as much HP left as small BS gang, to requiring a week of Sov timers. Just like that.
With WN focusing on the TCU we’ve taken few losses and have been bridging new guys in the whole time. Having started with 70 ready to go when WN pulled the trigger we’re now at 220+ in the subcap fleet by the time we call “free fire” to kill off the last few guardians.I wanted to get to bed by 0500. I guess you can’t have everything.
