On the 26, around 20:30, Goons began forming up a welpcane fleet to go mess with Raiden. They began by engaging a fleet in 92D. Raiden was there with their Pulse Baddons. There was some lag, but nothing terrible. After a a few brief fleet engagements over the span of about 20 minutes, very little was destroyed, but it was made clear that Raiden was willing to once again field their titans against the Goons. In the end, a couple billion isk of blood was sacrificed to the god of war.
If it had ended there, this battle wouldn’t be newsworthy. Neither fleet, however, were done shooting that day. Goons moved out and were caught in N-5476 by well placed bubbles. Raiden made a spectacular “shooting fish in a barrel” fight after offing the Goon FC shortly after the fleet jumped in. Chaos led to destruction. Add another 5 billion isk worth of blood to the tally.
Goons kept the fleet bouncing safespots while reinforcements were called and the fleet was generally reorganized (those who decided to call it quits at this point are more than likely kicked themselves). Raiden eventually left system for the target system of Z-K495. Goons followed shortly. Raiden were reinforcing towers when Goons arrived. Raiden had 21 supers on the field, cutting through the target towers. The Goon FC warped the fleet to the tower. As they came out of warp, the fleet was ordered to burn for the shields. Two Archons were targeted and destroyed as the Goon fleet burned past the Raiden fleet for a dozen or so more dead canes. Brave goon bubblers began covering the Raiden fleet, which apparently spooked Raiden enough to not stick around (they were rapidly approaching Goon prime time, and Goons have not been shy about fielding their titans either).
The Goon fleet stuck to the tower while the Raiden fleet moved off to safe spots. Both were calling for reinforcements to finish the other off. Both sides had eyed the other up and said “if only we had x, we could wipe them out…” Meanwhile, Goons had probes out to keep an eye on the Raiden fleet, Raiden’s task of keeping an eye on the Goon fleet was far easier. Some of Raiden’s supers subscribe to the idea that they are safer in their own safe spot. One of them was located and the Goons warped to it. Bubblers dropped drag bubbles at 100+km distances to prevent the Raiden fleet from quickly warping into the Goon fleet. As they began laying into the trapped Nyx, Raiden’s fleet warped in… at 170km with bubblers happily dropping more in their path, preventing a warpin. Raiden told their subcaps to burn for the Goon fleet, and lit their microwarps in hopes that the Nyx’s tank would miraculously last long enough for them to get into range. It didn’t. The Nyx melted. The pod was jacked by dogcity. Turns out the Nyx pilot thought low grades were good enough.
Raiden left the system a short time later.
What had looked like two sides trading blows all night, fell heavily to Goons in the end for the isk war. The grand total of the running battles of that night was over 55 billion. Nice shooting to all involved.
