Editor’s Note: Mintrolio. Nearly impossible to understand. CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL. Hilarious. We know you love him, because you upvote everything he writes. Watch out Eve, he’s running for CSM. This is why. Here is a link to Mintrolio’s Jita Park post, now on to the interview. Enjoy some grade A Mintrolio poastin.

1.

What mechanics changes do you think are needed to shift fighting from shooting structures to shooting ships?

CONFRIMIGN THESE IS EASY TO ANSWRE. ALSO FUR THESE TO BE HAPPEN CCCP NEEDIGN TO CHANGE STRUTCURE AND SOV. ALSO IS TO MANY STRUCTURE OR TO MANY MIT TO MANY HITPONTS OR IST TO MANY MECHANIC INVOLV MIT SOV AND WARFAR. EVERON IS LIK SHOT SHIPS, NOT EVER ONE IS LIK SHOT STRUCTRUE. I THINK ALLES 0.0 CANDATES WILL HAF IDEA ON WHAT NEED TO CHANGIGN, ALSO IS IMPORT CSM IS TO HELPIGN TO GUIDIGN CCCP TO DO GOOD THIGN NOT BAD THING. ALSO NO MATTRE WHO IS ON CSM AS LONG AS CSM HAVE 0.0 PERSON MIT BIG VOICES AND THEY ALLES DO CONSOLIDATEIGN A COMON POSISIONS, IT IS SIMPLE TO MAKE POINT HERD TO CCCP.

2.

Do you like the current sov mechanics? What how should it be expanded upon? Should it be removed and CCP start again from scratch?

CONFRIMIGN SOV MECHANCIS IS ALSO DEFINATE NEEDIGN ATENSION LIK I AM SAY ABOV. ALSO WHY ASKIGN SAME QEUSTION AGAIN? IS SAME THING I AM THINKIGN.

ALSO WE NEEDIGN DESTRUCABLE THGIN IN SPACE LIK STATION/OUTPOST (MAYBE 2 KIND OF THING TO MAKIGN NEW ELEMENT TO GAME EXCITE. ALSO MAYBE GATE DEPLOY STRUCTRUES LIKE GATE GUN, WARP SCRAMAS, BUBBL MACHIN, WEBBRS ALL SORT OF THING IS POSSIBEL - LIKE ARONBD POS, BUT MAK GATE HAVE ONLY CERTIN GRID TO DOIGN SO NO DICK-GATE OR DETH-GATE J AND MAKE MOR INTEREST MAYBES.

ALSO PERHAPS OLD IDE LIKE BE ABLE TO TAKE GATE DOWN TEMPORARY OR SOM SUCH TO. – SO MANY THIGN ! I HAVE LOT TO SAYIGN ON POTENSTIALS HEAR BUT NOT MANY WORK TO TYPIGN IT QITH NOW ALSO NEED CARFUL CONSIDRASIGN AND TALKIGN MIT MINE OTHRE CSM MEMBRE WHEN I GET VOTE.

3.

What is your opinion about the war dec mechanics, and by extension war dec shields? Should CCP iterate or start over?

CONFRIMIGN – TOUFH QESTION AS I NOT PROGRAMMER OF CCCP CODES.

ALSO PERAPS IS EASYR TO STARTIGN OVER PERAPS IS EASYR TO ITTERASION IT. WHO NOWS. ALSO IS OBVIOSU IS ALLES BROKEN SO BAD. ALSO FUR MANY TIM, MANY CANDATES TALKIGN OF THESE AND ALSO HAV BE RAISE IN MANY MANY OLD CSM NOTE. I THINIIGN THESE WILL BE ONE OF NEXT MAJRO OVERHEALIGN OF MECHANICS IN EVE GAME.

4.

Dust 514. What are your hopes/thoughts?

CONFRIMIGN I RELY AM HOPIGN DUSK90210 IS MASIF HIT FUR CCCP – THESE CAN ONLY BE GOOD FUR AND TO MAKIGN EVE MANY STROGNER. ALSO I AM HOPE THET GAME WIL HAF GOOD TIE IN TO THE EVE GAME OVER TIM BUT WHO KNOW.

ALSO AS MANY DO NOIGN. I AM VERY LOUD SPEKRE THET EVE NEED FOCUS. ALSO DUSK90210 NEEDIGN TO STANDIGN ON OWN FEAT AND HAV OWN TEEM THET DO NOT TAKIGN AWAY FROM EVE ONLINE EVER AGAN.

ALSO I CANCEL 2 ACCOUTN OVRE INCRANA – I STIL NOT REACTIV THEM I AM WAITIGN STIL TO SEEIGN WHAT CCP IS BOTH DOIGN AND IS SAYIGN.

5.

What are you going to do that other candidates haven’t, can’t, or won’t do?

CONFRIMIGN – I PLAN TO WRITIGN 2 STREEMS ON MINE BLOG MOVE FORWARD.

STREEM 1 – TO CONTINUE TO UPDATE ALL PLAYRE AS OFTEN AS NOW MIT AS MUCH DETALS AS POSSIBLE ABOUT HOW CSM/CCCP IS PREFORMIGN. TO LITTEL OF THESE IS DONE BY TO FEW OF CURRANT CSM AND TEND TO FOCUS ON BIT OF EVE THET THE WRITER FIND MOST PLEESIGN.

STREEM 2 – THESE IS MINE TRUMP CARDES. CONFRIMIGN STREEM 2 WILL FOECUS MOR ON THE PEEPOL AND PRESONALTIY OF CSM / CCP PEEPOL INVOLV IN MEETIGN. ALSO IN UKRAINE, I AM BELEAF MANY MANY READRE IS WANT THESE MOR THEN UPDATE ON HP OF RIFTER ETC.

ALSO IN UKRAIN HAFIGN MAGAZINE CALLES “OOPS” IT FOECUS ON CELEBERTY AND FASHIONS AND GOSPIS. ALSO STREEM 2 OF BLOG WIL BECOME THE OOPS / HELLO OF CSM. MOR AND MOR PEEPOL WANTIGN TO KNO IF MITANI REALY DO FALL OUT OF TAX DRUNK AND SEEING PICTURE. MOR PEEPOL ARE DEMND TO NOW IF ELITE RUDOLPHE RELY DO GO TO DINNER ALONE OR MIT OTHRE PERSON AND ALSO IF TREBORE RELY DO HAFIGN CORDIANTATED TROUSRE / SHIRT COMBO MIT MATCHIGN MAN-BAGS.

STREEM 2 WILL BEIGN THE REAL UNDERCOVRE EXPOSEY OF THE CSM GOIGN ONS. I BELEAF THIS IS WHAT PUBLIC WANT, WHAT PUBLIC DEMANS AND WHAT PUBLIC IS DESREVE.

VOTE MINTROLIO – GAIN GOSIP AND FASHIOS TIP FROM MOST POPLAR SPACE POLYTITIONS.

ALSO I WIL BE HOLDIGN MONTHLY COMTPETION ON MINE WEB FUR READRE TO CHOSE BETWEEN VARIOS RANDOM ITEM OF CLOTHE FROM MINE OR MINE GRANDMOTHRE WAR-ROBE THET I MUST TO BE WEARIGN TO CSM MEET OR TO BAR MIT CSM MEMBRE. I THINK IT VER IMPOTENT TO BRING FUN TO TABEL AND WITH ALLES PLAYRE TO ENCORAGE THEY CONTNUIE SUPPORT AND TO BECOM MOR ENGAGE IN WHAT IS HAPPEN MIT CSM AND CCCP.

6.

What does the phrase ‘risk versus reward’ mean to you? What facet of EVE is not worth the risk involved, and what needs to involve more risk?

CONFRIMIGN ALLES EVE NEEDIGN MOR RISK. ANY PART OF EVE NOW CAN BE DO PRETTY SAF IF YOU PAYIGN ATENTIONS.

I LIKE TO SE MOR REWARD IN 0.0 AND MOR RISK TO GO MIT IT. I LIKE TO SEEIGN SLEEPRE A.I USED IN PVE CONTENT LIKE BELT RAT AND MSION. I LIKE SEE BELT DPS ON RAT INCREAS. I THINKIGN THES WIL HELP TO MAKE MOR ENGAIGNING AND MAY BE HELPIGN MIT BOT? BUT WHO KNOW FUR SURE, IST JUST IDE IN MINE HEADS RIHGT NOW.

7.

How would you define the role of CSM in Eve?

CONFRIMIGN ALSO AS I SAY BEFOR. CSM IS TO FUNEL AND SHAPE IDEA FROM COMUINTY AND WHERE WARRENT IS TO PRESENTIGN THESE TO CCCP. ALSO IS THER TO ADVICE CCCP ON IDEA CCCP DO HAFIGN AND SHAREIGN MIT CSM.

ANOTHRE RESPONSBLITY CSM IS TO HAFIGN IS TO COMUNICATIGN MIT PLAYRE ALLES TIME –CONTINUING TO ENGAGE PLAYRE AND MAKE PLAYRE AWARE OF ACIFITY THET IS HAPPEN ALL TIME.

IS VER VER IMPOTENT ROLE TO PLAYGIN.

8.

What are your thoughts on Sansha Incursions? What kinds of changes would you advocate, if any, for incursions?

I AM LIKE INCRUSION – IS VER GOOD CONTENTS AND HAF BE WEL RECIVE. ALSO I WOULD LIKE THE MECHANIC OF EACH TO BE CHANGE SO LESS PREDITABLE. PEHAPS HAVE RANDOMISE TRIGRES, ETC. BUT AGAIN I NEED TIME TO FROMULATE MINE IDEA AND TO LISTENIGN TO MINE PUBIC.

9.

What are your thoughts on PVE in Eve? Would you advocate iteration or starting over for any PVE category? How would you rate the necessity of such changes on a scale of 1-10?

CONFRIMING AS PREVIOS. I THENIKIGN THAT BASIC IS THERE. IT NEED ITTERASION AND UPDATE TO MAKE MOR INTREST AND COMPEL FOR PLAYRE. ALSO VERY MANY PVE IN EVE IST VER REPETITIVE AND PREDITCABLE.

10.

What do you think is the biggest deterrent in the New Player Experience that prevents players from sticking with Eve?

CONFRIMING I AM THINK OF THESE MANY TIME. IT TAKE SPECIAL KIND OF PRESON TO STICK MIT EVE. AND THE RESON THEY STICK IS ACTUAL THE RESON MANY OTHRE WONT TO STICK MIT EVE. IT IS COMPLEX, IT TAKE TIME, THERE IS NO INSTANTS WINNIGN BUTTON AND NO INSTENT GRATICIFATION. MANY PEEPOL LIKE AND MANY PEEPOL DISLIKE. ANYTHIGN DOIGN TO REDUCE LERNING CURE, TO INCREAS ADOTPION AND TO PROVIDE PERHAPS A RAMP-UP FOR NEW PLAYRE FOR LONGER TIME IS POSTIVES.

11.

Outpost destruction. What is your preference for how that should be handled or implemented if at all?

CONFRIMIGN HOLY CARP YES ! ALSO DESTRUCTIBLE THING AROUDN GATE OR PLANET – SELF POWRE GUNS, ETC – ANYTHIGN TO MAKE NEW ELEMENT AND THET MAY BE TO CHAGING OUR BEHAVOR AS PLAYRES – MANY TIME FAULT IS OUR STYLE AND BEHAVOR NOT ALWAYS GAME. BUT GAME CAN HELPIGN TO SHAPE AND CHANGEIGN THESE STYLE AND BEHAVOR.

12.

In your opinion, what is the most pressing problem in Eve right now?

CONFRIMING NOT JUST BEIGN ONE.

WARDEC

SEC/BOUNTY

SOV MECHANIC

I THINKIOGN ALLES 3 NEEDIGN SERIOS AND IMEEDIATE ATENTIONS.

13.

What is your primary goal if elected to CSM?

CONFRIMIGN – 13 GOTO 5

14.

Which expansion was your favorite?

CONFRIMING MANY OF EARLY ONE WERE JSUT SO GRATE AS THEY AD SO MANY THING TO GAME. HAFIGN PLAY FOR LONG TIME MINE HEART REMEBER MIT MANY FONDSNESS OLD EXPANSION WE SED TO BE SO EXCITE TO WITIGN TO GET. I RELY THINK RECENT CRUSCIBAL HAF BRING SO MANY LITTLE THIGN THAT IT ADD UP TO ONE BIG AWESOM.

15.

Which ship/class of ships need the most love and which needs the most nerf?

NERF SUPERS – ALLES OF THEM. NOW THEY PROLIFERATE IN A WAY NEFER ANTICIPAT BY CCCP I THINK IT IS TIME. ALSO I AM HATIGN DRAKE BUT THESE IS PRESONAL RAISIN AND PRESONAL RAISINS HAFIGN NO PLACE ON CSM OR MIT ANY CSM CANDATE.

ALSO ELECTRIC FRIGATE NEED SO MANY LOVE, MAYBE EXHUMER NEED MOR HITPOIN ? (JUS TO ANOYGIN MITANI)

RVRNI+CSM7 – New Blood: Finder’s Keepers

I remember making a character back in 2007, playing through the tutorial, and quitting about an hour into it. Then playing a week into the trial period, getting once again, bored and quitting. In 2008, after reading about the Guiding Hand Social Club heist on Wired.com, I regained interest in the game. Two days later my brother paid for my month’s subscription and being a “good sport” and not wasting my brother’s money, I took another serious try at the game. I am not going to lie, EVE Online was a pretty dull game. Even the game music would grant Tyler Durden a full night of sleep.

It was boring… and still is.

For me, being in a player owned corporation was the saving grace for EVE Online. It was there where I became hooked on this space-crack. It was there where I learned that EVE isn’t a deal of having the most skill-points, but a deal of who’s got the better knowledge of the situation at hand.

And this is how I want to start my New Player Acquisition and Retention stance, because I feel it is important to outline EVE Online’s biggest pitfalls. So far CCP Games has been keen on giving priority to the bells and whistles within the game, rather than the musicians writing magnificent symphonies with the tools they have provided. Of course, am reffering to you.

I have always criticized CCP’s lack of incentive at getting pilots into Player Owned Corporations. From the low NPC corp tax rates to the leniency of being immune to wardecs, I feel CCP has been shooting themselves in the foot over and over with this issue. I feel CCP could be doing a better job, should they find ways to engage new players with more experienced ones.

Thinking Outside the Sand Box

I would praise mechanisms for new players to find themselves within a comfort zone and *then* occupy themselves with getting those players to “find their game”.

In my view this approach has always been taken backwards in-game. Take a view EVE Online’s new website and, while shinny and very html5-ish, I found a large flaw in the whole “personality test” approach. The human factor. CCP focused on selling their game as a single player adventure with this personality test, a sort of space-Skyrim, which for me is fine until one takes into account the real reason most players keep playing this game. The career list give new players a false sense of what they can do in the game. It is like a career counselor who tells most of the students that they should follow modeling careers and the rest that they should run for president.

Eve Online needs tools to encourage members to find common interests and band together on it. Simple tweaks like corps and players been able to openly identify their country of origin in-game should they wish to, would make wonders to a new player integration experience.

Engagement is the key and it is redundant to point out the existence of nearly limitless ways CCP Games can promote the transition of common interests between new and old players alike in the formation of more alliances and corporation.

Rethinking NPC Corps

This brings me to the NPC Corp issue. The NPC Corps are probably the most harmful barrier in the new player experience. They are just too convenient. New players get trapped in NPC corps through a combination of fear mongering within the corps, unprepared players being preyed upon by scams, and simple fear of change brought about because new players don’t consider making the jump soon enough (because you don’t in every other MMO).

You cannot regulate your way to reform. The resistance to change is usually too much by the time you realize something needs to be done. In this case, the need to change has existed so long that the resistance against change would be astronomical.

CCP could tinker with mechanisms to further ensure the competitiveness of Player Owned Corporations. Some of the ideas that have been put forward include: Even higher NPC corp taxes, susceptibility for players to be affected by wardecs after an arbitrary amount of SP has been reached, or the inability to run top quality missions from within an NPC corp. I think CCP needs to begin exploring ideas to encourage players to look and join Player Owned Corps.

To the current NPC players who are right now moaning at the mere concept of having to move out from NPC, I’ll paraphrase Dante upon sighting the purgatory boat:

You have no idea the wonders that lie ahead of you.

But, above all else, CCP needs to do a better job with the NPE. Some of the most important lessons to be learned in Eve are not included in the tutorial. It seems ridiculous, but players need to be taught about the social structure, the culture of the Eve player base. The oft quoted “don’t trust a goon” aside, players need to receive a short crash course on some of the common scams used against new players. Some of those scams are pure laziness, relying on the naive ignorance of new players so much that they degrade the term “scam.” If new players are aware of some basic things before interacting with other players, they will be better fit to interact with existing players and not be driven from the game by the lazy.

Mind the Gap

The pitfalls for gaining a potential long-term EVE player don’t end here. There is the long time question on Skill-Point floors set by corporations.

Rather than accept new players and train them up as tacklers, most player corps set skill point floors, and basically require everyone to be able to T2 fit a drake or hurricane or something vanilla like that. If new players were coming out of the gates with solid training on the skills they could put to use immediately, there would be less of an issue (it would also force spies to step it up and not play the “I is new” card for the missed tackle on that Navy Raven).

One thing that would help is give new players the basic skills to accomplish low sp tasks that would allow a new player to fill a roll in player corporations. Currently, players are given skill books and told “train this so you can finish this mission” – 10 minutes later, the skill is still training and the new player is tired of twiddling their fingers and unsubs.

A wild idea to keep players who have been playing for over a month in the game is to allow these new players to redistribute their skill-points so they can put those wasted mining skills they were forced to train to complete the NPE into something useful, now that they have a better understanding of the game. How this would be structured would be something CCP would have to work out, hopefully with input from CSM.

Again: You don’t “find your game”, your game finds you, and this usually happens after a few weeks of play, and the many skill points (for someone this early in the game) used on things they many not use until years later.

Babel

While discussing the new player experience, one issue which has always popped up is the relative hostility towards certain languages. Given the wild reception MMORPGs have in countries like South Korea, it is a wonder that CCP hasn’t invested some time into localization. The same goes for the Spanish speaking community of which I am a part. A community that, though most speak English as a second language, is the primary language of more than 10% of the global population, many in freshly/nearly developed nations.

Granted, English is the world’s business language, but there is a large number of people who, though they speak the language, are not fluent enough to follow everything in the game without a translator pulled up on a second monitor. More than that, there is a certain pride that should be kept in mind when trying to sell someone a product that does not cater to their language. Where would Eve Online be if they had decided to only have it in Icelandic? Language packs should be worked on and CCP could easily reach out to the player community to more quickly roll out these packs. Adding the ability to identify corporations/alliances that natively speak your language would further promote subscriptions in other parts of the world.

Incarna

Incarna was to be a point for those new-bloods who might feel appalled by the “space-ships-only” nature of EVE Online. I was one of the most outspoken supporters of the whole Incarna project and, sadly, one of the most disappointed players when it was rolled out.

Last year’s hit and miss with Incarna needs to be further addressed. The NeX store needs to be flooded with items which most players would be willing to pay for. CCP Games must realize the difference between being able to afford an item and actually being willing to spend money on it.

Still a few positive things can be made out of the current state of Incarna and while Eve Online is an Internet Spaceship game; I know CCP is going to work on this, so I want the CSM to be actively involved in the further development feedback, so we don’t have a repeat of fiasco of the Incarna release.

In Closing

EVE Online has always been marketed towards a younger audience while in my experience most players are over the 25 years mark and have a different mindset from your run-off-the-mill MMORPG crowd. The best way I can describe Eve Online is like being on a constant hunting trip. I feel the marketing communication strategy should receive greater feedback from the CSM.

One thing is for granted; while there are exceptional young players, the best Eve Online has to offer comes from the thoughtfulness that accompany its mature player crowd. The ability to see past the laser beams or flashy light show and come up with novel ways to shake up the sand box is what hooks us up to this wonderful game.

CCP Games announces its upcoming expansion in the following blog post, originally posted here.

Dev Blog: New Inferno Expansion – Backwards then forwards

“The future influences the present just as much as the past.”

	-Friedrich Nietzsche

Hello again everyone. It’s time to to look back at the last few months and then take a quick peak into the near future for the pilots of EVE Online. Last November’s release of Crucible was a key moment for us. Not only did it herald a shift in focus in what types of releases we were going to deliver to you, it also coincided with significant changes in how we, CCP, go about making the game we all love. There is plenty of detail about all of this in this dev Blog from CCP Zulu and in the December CSM minutes. In short, we are focusing the majority of our efforts on the “core” game of EVE whilst taking some time to give some TLC to our own internal structure, processes and tools.

The good thing is that the first big mountain of work on our reorganization has been completed, although there will be more change for us ahead. After the initial disruption that an effort like this always creates, all our developers are back in the serious business of making EVE better and better. You have already seen some of the results of this with January’s 1.1 point release for Crucible which brought balancing changes for Assault Frigates, Neocom improvements, Factional Warfare increments and a host of other changes all designed around making it a better experience to play EVE. Time Dilation has brought a level playing field in super-populated server situations and Team Gridlock have now turned their attention to performance improvements for the client, having recently released some of their work in Crucible 1.2.

A picture from a recent Time Dilated fleet fight courtesy of Deathcrow (click to enlarge)

You will also have noticed an increase in the pace of small targeted patches and hotfixes, many in response to the reports we are getting in from new back-end systems we put in place to help us react to issues faster.

In addition to the many small fixes and improvements we’ve deployed, we have also released a completely revamped eveonline.com website, designed to lead new pilots into the wonders that await them in the game. Poke around with it if you haven’t yet. It’s complemented by a simultaneous release of an ever improving community website for those who have been in the game for a while longer.

That’s actually quite a bit when you consider it has only been two and a half months since Crucible launched. However, it is time to look to the future and see what it brings.

EVE’s developers are really getting into their stride for our upcoming releases. I recently emerged from many demos where the teams have been showing off their progress from their second sprint (short development cycle). I have to say that even at this early stage I think we have some great features, content and improvements for you coming up over the next 4-5 months. We are hoping to have a number of small releases as we go through February, March and April culminating in our major, war-themed release coming just before the summer, EVE Online: Inferno

The next few months will be spent reinvigorating Concord-sanctioned warfare, giving tools and a framework to groups who wish to take advantage of these conflicts both directly and indirectly. We are also looking to introduce many new things which will mix up all forms of combat in a way not seen for a long time. Factional Warfare will also be seeing changes to make it much more relevant and fun by giving real reasons to fight for your faction.

As we continue development there will also be smaller changes, improvements and usability fixes, and we will not forsake our game performance focus. We will be making some changes and additions to our avatar technology and many other parts of the game. The websites will continue their metamorphoses and there may even be sight of more developer events on TQ.

Finally, we will revealing more concrete steps in the link between EVE and DUST 514, bringing an unprecedented level of collaboration, conflict and purpose to both games living in the same EVE Universe.

Am I playing my cards close to my chest? Of course. I’m keeping details light right now as it is still early on in the development process. I’d also much rather let the people putting all the hard work into making these features a reality have the chance to unveil things. Expect dev blogs, forum posts, interviews and video blogs packed full of information in the coming weeks and months.

Of course, if you want to witness the next big reveal of plans for EVE Online: Inferno, then you can hear it in person by coming to Fanfest in March. There you will be able to get quite cozy with your favorite devs and find out the real lowdown on EVE. This year Fanfest will be at a bigger, better venue right in the social epicenter of downtown Reykjavik, allowing us to bring MOAR EVE to Fanfest than ever before as well as some sneak previews of DUST 514, including the first-ever hands-on demo.. I can’t wait for the event and I hope to talk spaceships with a lot of you in person.

Time to sum up what has become a giant tease of a blog. A lot of work was put into YourEVE by everyone at CCP over the last few months and we all hope to continue momentum into what is shaping up to be the best year ever for EVE Online. The changes we painfully undertook appear to already be paying dividends via the Crucible releases.. More importantly though, I hope each one of you is experiencing benefits from our recent releases and that our plan going forward will bring even more of the same. I thank you for being here with us as we co-develop EVE with you, the greatest gaming community ever assembled. I trust that, come EVE Online: Inferno, you will be having the grandest time blowing each other up and/or profiting from it.

There has been a reoccurring refrain about how Goons are too chicken to field supers. Goons are known to have one of the largest super cap fleets in Eve. Yet, they have rarely fielded capital ships in the last year. The tin foil hats have been coming out increasingly with various explanations for the once again elusive super cap fleet. Conspiracy theories ranging from:

looks like the onesided battle off 6oy was a setup.

The mittani ordered his own fleet bubbled all the time just to get ammunition for the CSM to get CCP to nerf titans. I guess he thought he would just welp over Raiden but resistance now is a bit tougher and if he can’t win the battle on the field he will try to win it in the CSM.

Goons has easily got the ability to field the largest subcap fleets in Eve and any big nerf to supers and titans will be one step more for total 0.0 goon domination.

To…

CCP and Mittani agreed to no goon titans to keep the eve balanced in exchange for crucible

To…

goon supers taken away by gms cause they bought with rmt

To… well, you get the picture. The recent 6oyq-z battle saw an increase in conspiracy theories and confusion about why Goons kept throwing subcap fleets at capital fleets. Goon leader and self proclaimed CSM Chairman for life, The Mittani, provided an explanation recently to his fellow goons that only fed fuel to the conspiracy theorists. Goonswarm has always caused controversy in Eve. As it grew in power, it also began to attract the conspiracy theorists in droves. So, after having kept their supers safely tucked away since rolling over WN, and instead of accepting a toe-to-toe fight with Raiden’s super cap fleet, they continued throwing subcaps into battles, why did they bring out supers yesterday?

BATTLE REPORT

Riverini was at the fight, and his Curse felt the (by now) well known frustration that is tracking titans. A video of the fight is available on youtube (for those Riverini haters, you can watch him die in a bubble at 2:30):

So, why now? Why did the Goons suddenly field supers against Raiden after having used little more than drakes against them for over a month?

The word is that a Razor Erebus, piloted by Ambassador Delenn, was tackled in the system and Razor batphoned Goons, who quickly pulled out the big guns to save the stranded titan. Raiden may not have been ready for the response, or may have lost their cyno pilot before being able to complete the trap (I did a once through of the killmails and didn’t find a dead cyno ship though). Best guess is Goon Intelligence Agency (GIA) knew that this was the full extent of the trap set by Raiden, and the super drop was simply confidence that this battle wouldn’t escalate. Either way, Goons popped off 16 Raiden dreads and a handful of subcaps that had been along for the ride, then finished off the Raiden TCU for good measure.

Bagehi – Hater of Supers

You can read the whole call for ganks in the blog.

What really strikes me is the fact that the Interdiction is actually on-going. So far GoonWaffe have ganked over +600 Exhumers since the start of February, mostly Mackinaws around The Forge Region by GoonSwarm Federation members.

Pandemic Legion – The War Update

Fіnally, thе USTZ/EURO Late Ops Are Here

I was supposed to do thіs yеsterday‚ but іn sugar hazе (one cannot even get drunk no more when you’re old wіth young kids), ragе and birthday cake I had to skip it and finish it today. I am an old man today‚ no poіnt in еven denyіng it. =/

Anyway, our arrival in this Chill Campaign was sеt off with a massive fucking bomb. About 200 Tengus died in the first 48h of our arrival from the Team South camp. I think as per usual — our arrival and first few days was TOO successful since it literally stopped all progress Team South was trying to achieve and they pulled back into they usual rape cage for protection.

Naturally‚ RA beіng RA — thеy took that as a reason to push and were equally stomped іn thе ass in the following few days afterwards. I mean stomped in the ass as in lost 600 ships stomped within 5 days. Oh well‚ PL/NCDot also fell іnto thе “I WANT TO FIGHT” trap on Week 2 of thіs dеployment after a week of Team South blueballs‚ and when South started theіr official sеcond push — we bravely drove 160 man Rokh Fleet іnto 280 Tеngu fleet. It did not end well. We also failed to act on intel that Nulli/Black Legion has approached Goons in order to help on timers in US TZ in Geminate/Vale and got our guardians stomped on. Oh well‚ lіvе and learn ))).

So, the posіtivе news is that Team South *is* now officially pushing again. There are about 5-6 systems in RF‚ most of them comіng out 22:00 – 02:00 or will bе at least tіmеd to come out on RF2 (yeah‚ RA managed to fuck that up too іn 3 systеms). What’s more — as we could see yesterday — A/ROL wіll ATTEMPT to form for thеse timers as flashping no-CTA ops and drop on RA/RED.L repping shit.

If we get better than yesterday at catching them‚ suddenly good fіghts! But. (and I mеan butt). WE NEED YOU TO STOP BEING LAZY LEGION іn ordеr to catch -A-. Makalu’s first survival instinct is to RUN at the sight of a cyno. Thus we NEED hictors‚ dіctors and wе NEED cynos and drag bubbles when they baіl to 77s dirеction. Already today duders stopped being lazy‚ and whіlе SOLAR had 80 man CTA out and A/ROL had 130 man CTA fleet out — lіkе VIKINGS OF THE OLDE‚ duders braved elements and kіllеd an Aeon whіlе our enemies were sucking their thumbs trying to figure out how the FUCK to get in there in time to catch us.

Manny whistled and warped off as they started to move closer. Result. These types of opportunities will be DAILY from now on as the hostiles go on push mode and take risks in order to RF structures faster. We need to be able to respond‚ and for MOST opportunіtiеs — we need you back іn HEROCATs.

Thе RA Situation

I’ll deal with this here too‚ sіncе Malcore and the gang of retards thought іt was a good idеa to troll on forums and our enemies on field actually read it as general PL position and thought the dudes whine were people who log on more than 5 times a month and joins fleet more than once in a bluemoon.

Let me first tell you how much they read into the thread on SpaceGBS and the people who never play whining on it.

About 50% of the forces deployed to 77s had announced redeployments to different areas of catch — most to fuck with people like CVA in Providence. There was generally more -A- in LGK and area than there was in 77s. When the redeployment would have happened — Makalu would have been left wondering WTF with a thumb up his ass and 60 dudes who joined his fleets. But‚ as іt happеns, suddenly message spreads lіkе wildfire in Team South leadership that PL IS ABOUT TO MOVE OUT. And… then all redeployments are canceled or put on hold and a new MULTIFRONT assault is called with GYPSY/G00dfellas/CASCADE pushing Scalding Pass/Wicked Creek‚ A/ROL pushіng southеrn Detorіd (anything that’s not in dirеct range of PL supers) and SOLAR pushing northern Insmother/Geminate.

I guess it was a good troll‚ though let’s be honest — we all know the retards postіng in thе thread dіdn’t intеnd it as such.

Now — let’s reflect back on the situation and reinforce the message since it seemed fucking lost on some of you dudes: We’re not here to save RA. We don’t care about them or their english speaking Red Legion wing. We don not care that SOLAR‚ the VIKINGS OF EVE are ownіng facеs left rіght and cеntre. Let them. But we‚ as collectіvе of dudes who lead thіs alliancе‚ CANNOT let a coward fuckіng alliancе lіkе -A- fuck with our ops when we’re on contract and then move away thinking “haha‚ grіеfed PL” and move on theіr own littlе crusade burning bitches.

It doesn’t work like that‚ bіtchеs.

Makalu made іt his mission to griеf us in Drones slowing down our progress. Now we will do the same for as long as -A- is deployed to this front (or something REALLY good comes up :jewlegion: ).

Our objective here is to FUCK WITH A/ROL/GYPSY by slowing down their crusade and making them grind structures with cheap ships because they are too afraid to use supers. If that means we triage half a dozen carriers on a station to rep it’s shields up while we kill SBUs with dozen supers — so be it. Let the fuckers have another 4h CTA to grind down it to RF again while we play BF3. STOP THINKING that RA are going to be able to help you engage in RUS TZ — they are not. The poor little fellas are MASSIVELY outnumbered and when they’re not outnumbered they are VASTLY outgunned. I mean 100 SOLAR will destroy 200 RA/XIX in same fleet comps — it has happened‚ іt will continuе to happen — accept іt.

But USE IT to your advantagе. Know they will welp‚ so GO BACK to doіng what wе dіd whеn we arrived.

BOMB THE FUCKERS IN RUS TZ‚ ENGAGE THEM IN LATE EURO, GRIEF THEM DRY IN US TZ. Gіvе no іnch to thеse cowardly little fucking faggots for free. Make them WORK FOR IT. Just like they made us work for it in DRONES campaign.

And also‚ ok — let’s accept іt. NORTH is now a COMPLETE bluеballs zone. Goons are EVEN blueballіng 19:00 timеrs on a SUNDAY evening. Most of their allies are back home. They RF cycles are getting less and less every week. That shit is stale. There is nothing else in EVE right now going on. We’re in the best place around to be the 3rd party getting in on fights/bombs/grief.

Next two weeks

Since this is a ~chill campaign~ — I will probably only do TWUs every 2 weeks.

So‚ Team South іs now on thеіr official push. Thеy will have CASCADE IMMINIENT deploying to CURSE this week to help with their push. That means for a short period an additional 50-60 Drakes will be coming in US TZ timers.

That means — US TZ will actually be outnumbered by the end of the week‚ and you wіll havе to let some tіmеrs/outposts go while they grind the structure with 60 drakes and 100 man Tengu fleet. Good — let them while you grief them with snipers/bombers.

But that DOES mean in US TZ there will be a constant fight night‚ when you can match them.

The іnflux of DRAKES also mеans we have to іntroducе another ship class on deployment: HELLCATS. Get them. We will call for them and catch one of the DRAKE heavy alliances alone on their derp-gate path and murder them.

The message is simple for the next 2 weeks:

-Bomb/snipe in RUS TZ
- Drop on fleets moving alone in EURO PRIME (18:00-21:00)
- CONTEST in Late Euro (21:00 – 23:00)
- RAPE in US TZ (00:00 – 04:00)

SHIPS TO HAVE HERE‚ NO — FUCKING REALLY DO IT YOU FUCKS

So we mіssеd yesterday a chance to GOOD FIGHT 60 Oracles because people dіdn’t havе ships CALLED FOR in the SOTL.

Let’s NOT repeat this. I mean REALLY. If you can fly a ship on this list HAVE IT‚ FIT IT, BE READY TO JUMP TO IT. -A- are cowards who wіll RUN, so you havе to be FAST when pіngеd. Have these ships ready:

Shieldcats – Rokhs over Maelstroms with HUGINNS (lots)
Thundercats – Tengus with Lachesis
Hellcats – Abaddons + Loki/Proteus
HEROCATS — we can DROP ON SUPERS/CAPS DAILY now if you have these (hulls on contract for 50mil someone bring fits)
Downscats – ASSAULT FRIGS‚ NO — FUCKING REALLY
Bombers – wіth dictors/hic fit with probеs or probіng cov ops warpеr
Slowcats – HAVE A CARRIER FIT READY FOR THIS PLEASE

SCIMMIES‚ BASILISKS, GUARDIANS — PLEASE HAVE SOME FIT AND READY TO FLY — we also need Logі Anchors to bе traіnеd by the masters. We had 2-3 derps lately with unfortunate accidents… they happen‚ іt’s cool — but lеt’s try to get better.

OOC HICS/DICS/CYNOS — SPREAD EVERYWHERE, especіally on thе path to 77s where we can snatch a fleet on the way back/out.

Thanks — let’s get to it!

- Shadoo

Ok, here is a fun read on asymmetrical warfare. This piece was written from Re-Awakened Technologies Inc`s point of view. Am really glad to see the small/new guys coming up with inspiring ways of sticking it to the big guys.

Ragtag Fleet Puts PL’s Sniggwaffe on the Back Foot

Pandemic Legion <del datetime="2012-02-22T10:55:01+00:00">pets</del> training corp Sniggwaffe have moved into the Todifrauan system in recent weeks, setting up several POS towers, knocking down all the systems POCOs and replacing them with their own. They haven’t been very good neighbours, and have rebuffed any attempts by the locals to come to any kind of diplomatic arrangement for the duration of their stay.

They have now set their eyes on Helgatild as well, home to Shades of Gray alliance, and some Electus Matari corps. They began reinforcing the systems POCOs on 15th Feb, and knocked down a Shades of Gray POS tower – their capital and super capital fleet in the area being too strong for local forces to challenge. So far everything has been going their way, with them hotdropping their way to victory in any fight that looked remotely challenging for their subcaps.

However on 16th Feb that was all about to change, as a small ragtag fleet of stealth bombers managed to put a serious crimp in their plans to destroy Helgatilds POCOs. Destroying roughly 600m ISK of Snigg assets, and delaying the attackers long enough for six of the POCOs to regenerate and go reinforced again.

The stealth bomber fleet comprised of several militia corps, with ROSS leading the way, also Shades of Gray alliance Electus Matari, and some ReAw pilots. The bomber fleet got off to an initially poor start, due to some bad calls which culminated in the majority of their losses early on. However the defenders soon got their game into gear and began picking off the Snigg battlecruisers one by one. Forcing the attackers to react to them, and keeping them on the back foot the whole fight.

Snigg seemed unable to come up with an effective counter to the bomber fleet, and all the while they were losing ships, but more importantly they were losing time to kill those POCOs before they regenerated. Local was very quiet, the usual smack was sporadic and rather subdued, with an occasional ‘GF’ as the ragtag fleet found another Snigg victim. Eventually the Snigg succumbed to the inevitable, and once again proved how heavily they rely on supercaps, even in lowsec subcapital engagements. They cyno’d in a Nyx, a Wyvern, two Archons and four Thanatos to counter the remaining twenty or so stealth bombers, who went on to kill another Naga battlecruiser right under the noses of the capital fleet.

In summary, the defenders have only really postponed the inevitable, but they have given the attackers a bloody nose, and delayed their schedule by another 48hrs, who knows what can happen in that time?

Here is a good read from the guys of The Elysian Empire, an excellent piece for those trying to learn a bit about the harshness of moving from high-sec to null/w-sec.

Disclaimer: this is the order of battle as far as I know it. I’m writing this with the approval of the rest of the alliance leadership, although I have not passed the text to them for prior review. I welcome the correction of any factual inaccuracies by any of the parties involved.

Wormhole Wisdom From The Elysian Empire.

The Elysian Empire had been on a training exercise invading a c2 wormhole from Hi-Sec. The operation had been a near complete success, and tired pilots were in the process of returning to our C6 home.

During this temporary lull in our normal activities and watchfulness, Norcorp were able to open a wormhole to our system and move in three capital ships and a small fleet. They were thus able to temporarily control our static, and we believed that they began cycling their static. They managed to connect to our c6a wormhole and brought in another three caps and assorted support ships through our static wormhole. In all, they brought four dreads and two carriers, and a total of 43 observed pilots (quite probably a few more).

They soon began to attack our POSes, and with our sparse numbers there wasn’t much we could do but watch and plan to counter attack when they came out of reinforced. Over the next two days, through some excellent displays of individual piloting, we managed to get more than a dozen pilots through their tenuous wormhole camp to reinforce our numbers, but we were still outnumbered by nearly 50%.

Our plan was to take them on when our first tower came out of reinforced, and we executed to great effect. Our ECM ships neutralised key ships in their fleet, our Bhaalgorn neuted their carriers and our dreads and DPS tore through the their armor, whilst our carriers valiently repaired our battleships. To Norcorp’s credit, they reinforced with more battleships and managed to take down several of our BSes, but in the end we’d killed all six of their caps, two bhaalgorn and anything else not fast enough to clear the field, with just 5 friendly battleships and one HIC as losses.

An utterly defeated Norcorp appeared to be preparing to retreat through our now-unguarded static, so we decamped there to mop up their remaining subcaps. They didn’t show immediately, so we decided to close the static they new about and camp the next one. Max Charge jumped his Archon, and as soon as his grid had loaded, he reported a massive AHARM fleet on the other side and immediately jumped back.

For those readers not familiar with wormhole maths, even the largest can usually accomodate three capital ships before collapsing, so we expected to face a maximum of one cap ship and possibly the AHARM support fleet of T3s and Guardians. Unfortunately for us, AHARM made use of a little known “bug” (some would say exploit) that apparently allows you to jump any amount of mass through a wormhole to bring their full force to bear. As the wormhole collapsed behind them Norcorps remaining subcaps landed, and we were somewhat surprised to see something like 35 AHARM T3s, two dreadnaughts, what looked like a dozen guardians in support and assorted HICs and BCs decloak. My dreadnaught got off a couple of swinging blows before falling to their superior numbers and massed DPS, and caught in a bubble I could only watch as my pod was yellow boxed by several of their pilots. I woke up in an empty clone in hisec, and listened to the swift destruction of the rest of the fleet, and then the reinforced towers.

Despite this eventual outcome, most of the pilots in the alliance remain up beat. Wormhole life isn’t for the feint of heart, and our against-the-odds victory over Norcorp was an excellent fight, and will keep us warm in the depths of space for some time to come, regardless of the size of the forces they can batphone for support.
